An unidentified man lost $500,000 Monday night after Michigan got rolled in the March Madness title game by Villanova.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell tweeted prior to the game, “A @williamhillus sportsbook in Southern Nevada took a $500,000 bet today on Michigan to win title. Would net $1.45 million if Wolverines prevail.”

Well, there’s no real way around this other than to say losing half a million dollars in two hours has got to sting. Gambling is all part of the fun, but it’s substantially less fun when you’re losing the equivalent of a small house or super nice car.

They say you should never gamble money you can’t afford to lose. For the sake of this man, I sincerely hope that losing $500,000 isn’t a big deal for him. Losing half a million sucks. Losing it and not really being able to stomach the hit would suck a lot more.

I’ve never even come close to betting this much money on anything. The thrill and excitement during the game must be on a different planet. This dude must have been feeling really nice when Michigan jumped out early. Probably had to crack a few drinks to get through the second half. It’s rollercoaster ride when it comes to gambling, and this man learned that the hard way.
