Jack Nicklaus participated in the Par 3 Contest at Augusta National on Wednesday, but it’s his grandson Gary, or “GT” as Jack calls him, that everyone is talking about.

Gary Nicklaus caddied for his grandfather at the Par 3 competition until the final hole, when the golf legend let him take his tee shot for him. It was the only shot Gary hit all day, and all he needed to get it in the hole.

Just after he hit the ball, Gary Player, who was also in the group, knew it would be good.

“Oh, GT you’re gonna love that,” Player said before it even hit the green. “You’re gonna love it!”

Sure enough GT’s shot turned out to be a perfect ace and led to the biggest roar from the crowd all day. And of course GT’s hole-in-one earned high praise from his grandfather who called it “number one” on his list of golf memories. That’s really saying something.
