Seems Problematic When The Myers-Briggs Test Gives You The Traits Of Dictators

A wild debate broke out in the office this morning about our Myers-Briggs test results, and there might be a few problems.

For those who don’t know, the Myers-Briggs test is an in-depth personality test that gives the taker a pretty specific look at their traits.

I tested as an ESTJ, which is described as “confident, decisive, and well-organized. They take command of any situation naturally and gravitate toward positions of authority.”

Seems like absolute gravy, except there’s just one minor problem. Turns out a lot of dictators and strongmen are also ESTJs. A couple examples are Saddam Hussein and Augusto Pinochet. Darth Vader and Cersei Lannister are two fictional people tagged as ESTJs.

Now, look, there are a few positive ones here too. Margaret Thatcher, Bernard Montgomery and Condoleezza Rice are a few.

I’m not going to lie. It’s pretty shocking to find out you share traits with Vader, a Lannister and Hussein. Say whatever you want about those three, but I think we can all agree they demanded power and influence. I’m kind of in limbo here, but it’s not a great group to be a part of. Sure, we all apparently get rich but I don’t need everybody in the office now calling me Vader. Something tells me they’re going to overlook how he had kids with a smoke show and turned out to be a good guy, and instead focus on all the evil he did. People really like to pick their facts.

I guess I just have persevere and become the face of the ETSJs. Anything with the face of Saddam Hussein upfront definitely needs a brand remake. Besides, I have better eyes and much better facial hair. These are simply facts. Right now, people see ESTjs ad strong handed dictators. Soon they will see them as the kings of the internet. Times are a changing.
