Stephen A. Smith has found himself in a bit of a predicament after suggesting that NFL prospect Josh Rosen might prefer to get drafted by New York over Cleveland because it has a “stronger Jewish community.”

“Now, in defense of Jim Mora, he may have been doing it to dissuade the Cleveland Browns from picking him because Josh Rosen according to my sources would prefer to be in New York…he’s Jewish, there’s a stronger Jewish community,” he said on his ESPN radio show on Wednesday.

Previously, Josh Rosen’s UCLA coach Jim Mora commented that Sam Darnold would do better in Cleveland because of his “blue-collar, gritty attitude.”

This is a pretty wild take, ever for Stephen A. Smith. But you have to at least consider the possibility that Josh Rosen might prefer getting drafted by New York over Cleveland.

It’s not controversial to say that getting drafted to Cleveland might be the stuff rising-star QBs have nightmares about. Sure it might guarantee a hefty paycheck but if you really love the game, the prospect of an 0-16 season isn’t very enticing.

Not to mention, if you’re a young dude just starting out in the real world, New York City is at least 100 times more exciting than Cleveland. Sure, it’s not for everybody. But if I’m Josh Rosen, I’m doing everything I can to avoid the dumpster fire that is the Cleveland Browns. That’s just business, baby.
