Here’s a completely fresh and original idea: A-list celebrities pit themselves against perfectly unassuming, law abiding citizens in a new anti-NRA protest.
Prominent celebrities and their activist counterparts are teaming up to start an initiative to counteract the NRA’s perceived influence on American legislation, the Hollywood Reporter says.
The campaign will be called No Rifle Association, or #NoRa for short. It’s unclear exactly what the initiative aims to accomplish, however over 130 celebrities and community organizers wrote a letter to NRA Vice President Wayne LaPierre on Tuesday.
In part, the letter reads:
We’re going to shine a bright light on what you and your organization do to America. We’re going to make sure the whole world sees your bloody hands.
We’re coming for your money. We’re coming for your puppets.
And we’re going to win.
Michael Moore, Jimmy Kimmel, Alyssa Milano, Ashley Judd, Amy Schumer and Alec Baldwin, along with Parkland High School survivor David Hogg, #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, and several other legislative consultants signed the letter.
And although the letter announces the official creation of the #NoRa movement, it’s still pretty unclear what they’re trying to get done. This letter has a lot of star power and almost zero pull whatsoever. Try as Michael Moore and company might, there’s a better chance that this letter ends up in Wayne LaPierre’s garbage than in a bill on Trump’s desk.
