It’s Starting To Look Like It Might Finally Be The Caps’ Year

Washington Capitals fans sure do have a lot to be happy about these days.

The Caps are now up 2-0 on the Lightning after winning Sunday night, and are two hours of great hockey away from playing for the Stanley Cup.

As I’ve stated before, I did not grow up a Caps fan at all. I’m a huge Detroit Red Wings fan, and I have been since birth. Since moving to D.C., however, I have adopted the Caps and their fanbase as one of my own.

The Caps aren’t exactly lovable losers, but they used to be masters of disappointing everybody. You could bet your life savings that they would break hearts come the playoffs.

Well, it’s really starting to look like those days are behind us, and something special is happening here. As a Red Wings fan, I’m used to winning. It’s in my blood. Washington D.C. pretty much wins at nothing when it comes to just about everything that happens in this town. The people here are desperate for a victory.

I hope like hell we’re about to get it. I can’t wait to see what this town will be like of the Caps advance, let alone actually win the whole damn thing. I’m not going to sit here and guarantee it’s going to happen, but I like where we’re sitting. This is what playoff hockey is all about!
