The Statistically Best NFL Receiver On Deep Passes Might Surprise Everybody

David Hookstead | Reporter

Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones is statistically the best receiver in the NFL when it comes to catching contested passes 20 yards or further.

The dynamic player comes down with 81.8 percent of those balls, according to Pro Football Focus. The second-best is Demaryius Thomas at 66.6 percent.

Well, I can’t say I’m surprised by this at all. Anybody who has watched Jones plays knows that he is a big-time playmaker. He terrorizes secondaries when he starts heading upfield. Check out some of his highlights. (RELATED: MATTHEW STAFFORD REVEALS HOW FAR HE CAN THROW A FOOTBALL. IT’S SHOCKING [VIDEO])

Jones has done a much better job filling up the Lions receiving corp than most people probably anticipated when Calvin Johnson decided to hang it up. The man just goes out there and plays ball.

I think big things are on the horizon this year for the Lions. They’re loaded with talent, have a star quarterback in Matthew Stafford and solid offensive line. I see lots and lots of wins in our future. I’m not sure the NFL is ready for what is about to hit them.
