Saying ‘The World Needs More Cowboys’ Is Apparently Sexist. What Is Wrong With People?
The University of Wyoming is getting dragged for a new proposed slogan.
The Mountain West conference school might choose “The world needs more cowboys” as a new slogan, and that’s apparently a major problem for some people.
Professor Christine Porter told the Laramie Boomerang, “I care most about our university having a slogan that makes all people feel welcome here. That’s what I care most about. I also care about us not embarrassing ourselves as an institution across the nation. However proud this state is of our cowboy tradition, it just does not translate outside the Rocky Mountain West.”
She also complained because the term cowboy invokes the image of a “white, macho, male, able-bodied, heterosexual, U.S.-born person.”
Who knew that promoting cowboys could be sexist? I sure didn’t. Look, I love this slogan. The world has gone soft, and we do need more cowboys.
We’d all be a lot better off if there were more men capable of firing a six-shooter while riding a horse. You’re not living life if you don’t own a cowboy hat and haven’t ripped off shots from AR-15 while wearing it. How about we have a few more people like John Wayne and a lot fewer men who like sipping on soy lattes. (RELATED: AMERICAN HERO GREEN BERET HAS A STRONG MESSAGE FOR WHY AMERICANS NEED GUNS)
Has the whole world lost its damn mind? How are people honestly offended by this? Of course we should be encouraging a cowboy mentality! I’ve seen so many people in Washington, D.C., soft as baby food. That’s not a compliment for those of you reading this who might be confused.
Now, I’m not saying I’m the toughest guy on the planet. I’m not at all, but I’ve spent enough time in the countryside and wilderness to have a bit of an edge. You don’t grow up in the cold winters of Wisconsin and live in Montana without getting toughened up a little bit. I guess my mentality is just a bit too sexist.
It’s a real shame we didn’t send a bunch of women out by themselves on the frontier. I’m sure that would have worked out wonderfully without cowboys anywhere. Oh wait, that would have been a terrible idea.
People need to sack up and stop complaining. The world needs more cowboys to pick up the slack for all the soft people dragging this country down.
