Fans Hoping Carson Wentz Is Ready Week One Might Be Disappointed With His Latest Comments
Philadelphia Eagles star Carson Wentz is unsure about whether or not he’ll be ready to roll week one.
The Super-Bowl-winning quarterback told Peter King late Monday of NBC’s Football Morning in America the following:
I feel good. I feel good. What my goal has been all along is to be ready Week One. I can’t say 100 percent that I’ll be out there. But I do feel good where I’m at. At the end of the day, it’s not gonna be my call. It’s gonna be up to the doctors. But rehab’s gone really well. I felt like I’ve been right on schedule and everything. I feel good with where I’m at. At this point I just go practice and do what I can and let the doctors make the calls.
As Mike Florio pointed out, Wentz will be active for week one, but there’s no guarantee he’s going to play.
I’m sure Eagles fans want him back on the field. Why wouldn’t you? He’s one of the best quarterbacks in the game, but they should take things slow.
The North Dakota State product tore his ACL and LCL. That’s not a kind of injury you just want to immediately rush back from. You tear it again, and you might never take another snap. RGIII had leg issues, and we all know what happened to him. (RELATED: MATTHEW STAFFOR
Plus, you have Nick Foles on the roster. Why rush Wentz back when you have the guy who won the Super Bowl right there? It just doesn’t make sense at all. The Eagles need to take their time and make sure not to put him on the field until he is absolutely up.
Then, and only then, should Wentz get his starting job back. This is a marathon. It’s not a sprint, and the Eagles shouldn’t believe they’re in a rush to make foolish decisions.
