Jennifer Aniston Hits Back At ‘Reckless Assumptions’ In Tabloid Reports Again About Her Relationships
Jennifer Aniston hit back at “reckless assumptions” again in tabloid reports about how she’s reportedly “heartbroken” following her recent split from husband Justin Theroux after two and a half years of marriage.
“It’s pretty crazy. The misconceptions are ‘Jen can’t keep a man,’ and ‘Jen refuses to have a baby because she’s selfish and committed to her career.’ Or that I’m sad and heartbroken,” the 49-year-old actress explained during an interview with InStyle magazine published Wednesday.
“First, with all due respect, I’m not heartbroken,” she added. “And second, those are reckless assumptions. No one knows what’s going on behind closed doors. No one considers how sensitive that might be for my partner and me.” (RELATED: Jennifer Aniston UNLOADS On The Media For Speculating That She’s Pregnant)
“They don’t know what I’ve been through medically or emotionally,” she continued. “There is a pressure on women to be mothers, and if they’re not, then they’re deemed damaged goods. Maybe my purpose on this planet isn’t to procreate. Maybe I have other things I’m supposed to do?”
In 2016, the “Friends” star made headlines when she urged people to stop buying tabloid magazines after several of them speculated over the summer that she was pregnant.
“We have to stop listening to them, and we have to stop buying them because we have to support each other, especially at this time, to love each other, to support and to be proud of women whatever your choice is in life,” Aniston said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
“I think these tabloids, all of us, need to take responsibility on what we ingest into our brains,” she added. “Just because we are women, we have a uterus, we have a vagina, we have ovaries, we need to, like, ‘Get to work, lady.’ … We, as women, do a lot of incredible things in this world other than just procreate — and not that that is not [incredible]. But it’s like, we just get boxed in.”
“They love the narrative, they love the story, they love the she’s jealous of this person, and she’s depressed, and oh my gosh, she’s never going to have a child. Whatever the horrible little headline is, we’ve just got to break out of that,” she continued.
