‘The Predator’ Expected To Put Up Monster Box Office Numbers

David Hookstead | Reporter

“The Predator” is expected to crush at the box office this weekend.

The Hollywood Reporter reported Thursday:

Shane Black’s The Predator is expected to conquer the competition and win the weekend ahead of holdover The Nun with a domestic debut in the $25 million-$32 million range from 4,027 theaters.

The Fox film marks Hollywood’s latest attempt to revive a long-dormant franchise, and opens more than 30 years after the first Predator, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of an elite military team fighting off menacing extra-terrestrials, hit the big screen. In the time since, there have been four other titles in the series, including two Predator-Alien pics.

Bringing in $30 million for opening weekend wouldn’t be a bad haul at all, especially considering the fact it’s during football season. People have plenty of options for entertainment during this time of year, but apparently, tons are expected to see this movie. (RELATED: THE FIRST TRAILER FOR THE ‘PREDATOR’ REMAKE IS FINALLY HERE [VIDEO])

I’m very excited to see what we get with this movie. It’s got a hell of a great cast, which includes Olivia Munn. Everybody who has ever read this site knows that I’m a sucker for anything that involves Munn. She’s one of the best in the game, and I can’t wait to see how she does in “The Predator.”

Plus, they’ve actually managed to make this film look pretty dark and serious instead of childish and corny. That’s generally a step in the correct direction.

You can catch “The Predator” in theaters today.
