San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a cringe-inducing blow during Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and Monday’s injury report isn’t doing much to put fans’ fears to rest.

Here’s the moment it happened:

Looks like a pretty nasty hit if you ask me. And after an MRI on Monday, doctors confirmed what every San Francisco fan was afraid of. (RELATED: JIMMY GAROPPOLO’S MODEL EX-GIRLFRIEND PUTS UP CRYPTIC MESSAGE ABOUT HIS SERIOUS KNEE INJURY)

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted Monday afternoon: “MRI showed what 49ers feared: Jimmy Garoppolo tore his ACL and his season is over, per source.”

The 49ers are in a particularly precarious situation, seeing as they have only one backup quarterback, C.J. Beathard, who was selected in the third round back in 2017. Miracles happen every day in the NFL, but Beathard is hardly experienced playing at this level.

It looks like the 49ers may be back to square one in the search for a quarterback.
