Second-year 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered an ACL tear on Sunday, leaving the team with a less than rosy outlook for the remainder of the season.

And since desperate times call for desperate measures, the 49ers are left with few options. Garoppolo’s backup QB is C.J. Beathard, who was selected in the third round back in 2017 but has little experience playing at an NFL level. (RELATED: WE OFFICIALLY KNOW JIMMY GAROPPOLO’S INJURY. IT’S JUST AS BAD AS WE FEARED)

So with Beathard as the only viable option, San Francisco decided to hold workouts for several potential replacements. Naturally, former 49ers star Colin Kaepernick’s name was tossed around in the chatter. (RELATED: NIKE’S STOCK HITS SHOCKING AMOUNT AFTER COLIN KAEPERNICK CAMPAIGN)

But it appears that the now-social justice advocate did not make the final cut.

NFL reporter Ian Rapoport reports that several potentials, including former Texans QB Tom Savage, former Charges QB Kellen Clemens, and former Bills QB T. J. Yates — who are all currently free agents.

In other words, the 49ers want nothing to do with Kaepernick. It’s pretty telling — you’d think most teams would beg the QB that took them to a pretty successful player to get back on their roster. But then again, most quarterbacks don’t split an entire nation over politics and social justice either.
