You should immediately get the hell out of America if you don’t love the movie “Miracle.”

I was recently having a few cold beers at my house, and fired up the movie about the 1980 Miracle on Ice on Netflix. I have a simple rule for this movie. Once it starts, I don’t do anything or go anywhere until it’s finished. Much like a great woman, it’s just addicting.

For those who don’t know, the Miracle on Ice was this glorious moment in history when the big bad Soviet Union thought they were going to cruise to a gold medal in ice hockey at the 1980 games in Lake Placid, New York.

A group of young college players had a very different set of plans. What happened next would go down as the greatest moment in American sports history, and the movie does an outstanding job of capturing all the magic. (RELATED: THE PRICE FOR A TICKET TO THE MIRACLE ON ICE GAME WAS INSANELY LOW)

What the film also did was bring legendary coach Herb Brooks to life for a generation that never knew him. We saw his toughness, his drive, his coaching ability and his insane urge to win. We also got the great sports speech in film history.

In closing, the Miracle on Ice has had a profound impact on my life. It’s something I talk about a lot, I research and it’s something my family shares together. I hope all of you also get chills when you hear Al Michaels count it down.
