Former Kaepernick teammate Eric Reid made his debut as a Carolina Panthers safety this weekend, but it was his press conference performance that really had people talking.

Reid, who was one of the first NFL players to protest the national anthem with Colin Kaepernick, wore an emphatic #ImWithKap t-shirt to a presser this week. (RELATED: COLIN KAEPERNICK REACTS TO ANTHEM PROTESTOR SIGNING WITH NFL TEAM)

Kaepernick, who remains unsigned, recently trademarked the “I’m With Kap” phraseology — a move many have speculated could result in a full Kaepernick clothing line.

And although he’s back in the NFL, Reid’s kept up his fight against what he views as injustice. Earlier this May, the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) filed a grievance against the NFL on Reid’s behalf, claiming the league colluded to blackball players who protested the anthem. Asked whether the Panthers’ decision to sign Reid had anything to do with politics, Panthers GM Marty Hurney told ESPN, “This was a football decision,” adding, “We made this decision based on the fact he’s a good football player. He’s played at a very high level the last few years. We think he can come in and help us win games.”
