Native Chicago artist Chance The Rapper is considering a run for Chicago mayor.

Chance The Rapper, real name Chancelor Bennett, was born and raised in the West Chatham neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. He’s got a history of being openly political and grabbed headlines for rejecting a thank you from President Trump after he stood by Kanye West when he first came out as a Trump supporter. And on Monday, Chance The Rapper teased the notion that he was considering running for mayor.

“I’m thinkin’ maybe I should,” he teased, referencing a lyric in his song “Somewhere In Paradise,” in which he muses about running for Chicago mayor.

Hours later, he posted a photo of plans for a media advisory at 10 a.m. local Chicago time, where he will likely make an announcement about his decision to run at City Hall.

Calls for Chance The Rapper to run for Chicago mayor have been swift and longstanding. A website aptly named Chano4Mayor.com says the city can do “much, much better” than Rahm Emmanuel and claims the rapper could reform Chicago’s school systems and gun violence issues.

This is a developing story. Check back for details.
