Taylor Swift told her fans that one thing she wished she knew about when she was 18 was early voting and encouraged them to find out about their states early voting for the midterms.
“Something I wish I knew about when I was 18 and voting for the first time: EARLY VOTING,” the 28-year-old pop singer captioned her post on Instagram Wednesday, along with a snap of her feet with some of her toenails painted with red nail polish and others painted with blue polish.

It is the second time the “Shake It Off” hitmaker has made a political statement in the last week, after remaining mostly silent for her career. Last week, she made headlines when she said she could no longer support Tennessee Republican Sen. candidate Marsha Blackburn and voiced her support for Democrats Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper.

“As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn,” Swift wrote.
“Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Re-authorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking and date rape.”
“She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples,” she added. “She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values. I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives. Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values.”
Blackburn responded on “Fox & Friends” Wednesday to the pop star, saying that Tennesseans are concerned with the “story of their life, not the story on their day, and really what they are focusing on is our positive message.”
Blackburn continued, “It is getting through, and that is what is going to carry people to the polls.”
Days after Swift’s endorsement, the latest poll in the state shows the GOP Senate candidate is up by 14 points over Bredesen.
