“He was very happy after the fight,” he said, wiping away tears. “He came to a press conference with me. We was just talking a bunch of s**t. I went home and then he left.”

Asked where he was when he learned Tupac had died, Tyson answered he was “home, sleeping.”

“It’s very difficult to talk about,” he continued. “He was a young kid who really wanted to be great, and that happened.”

You can watch the heartfelt moment below:

Shakur was shot multiple times after he and his bodyguards got into a fight with a Crips gang member in a Las Vegas hotel lobby, as they were leaving Mike Tyson’s 1996 fight against Bruce Seldon. When the group left the hotel, a white Cadillac pulled up beside Shakur’s car at a traffic stop and fired multiple shots into his car. Shakur was killed, however, his murderer was never identified.

The rapper was 25 years old.
