Issues within the Ohio State football program don’t sound good at all.

The past few weeks, industry sources have mentioned to FootballScoop issues at Ohio State between the football staff and athletics leadership, as well as within the program itself. Multiple times, the term “friction” has been used to describe issues between Urban Meyer and Gene Smith (and their respective key lieutenants). Within the football program itself, it has been said there is a tension that hasn’t been present in previous years.
I guess this really shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody. Remove the stunning loss to Purdue, and there are still ample reasons for there to be “friction” within the Buckeyes organization. (RELATED: Ohio State Football Announces Major News. How Will It Impact Their Season?)

Urban Meyer was suspended for three games after the Zach Smith alleged domestic violence debacle that took the media by storm over the summer, and it was pretty clear from the jump the legendary coach felt like he was being railroaded.
If your head coach feels like he’s become a scapegoat for a public embarrassment to the school, then I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think he’s going to be upset.
I’m not saying that Urban Meyer has a right to be upset. I think most people would certainly argue he doesn’t, and that he has nobody to blame but himself for the situation he found himself in. That’s a fair stance. I’m simply saying you’re bound to have problems if Meyer feels he wasn’t treated fairly, which I think any honest and unbiased observer would say is where he’s at.
The only other I do know for sure is that OSU’s dreams of a title are dead if they don’t figure out what the hell is going on. It’s really that simple. This is football. It’s not rocket science. Right now, Ohio State probably couldn’t find the direction of north, and that’s not a good sign for anybody involved.
