Supermodel and new mom Kate Upton joked Wednesday night about boycotting the entire area of Tampa, Fla.
The 26-year-old Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, who is married to Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander, hopped on Twitter to stand up for her husband after he did not win the coveted Cy Young Award, which is given to the best American and National League pitchers, respectively, in the MLB every year. After it was announced that Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Blake Snell won the AL vote for the coveted award, Upton sounded off on Twitter about the injustice.
“Let’s just say I won’t be going to Tampa any time soon,” she wrote, with the playful line, “#Tampastrikesagain #CyYoung … Justin wants everyone to know I’m ‘joking.'”

For what it’s worth, Verlander did come in second place for the award with 13 votes — versus Snell’s 17.
Upton’s also correct in saying Tampa Bay struck again. Verlander lost out to Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price in 2012 — as well as to Boston Red Sox Rick Porcello in 2016.
