Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith was only concerned with his team after snapping his leg Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Smith went down with one of the most gruesome injuries I’ve ever seen when he snapped his tibia and fibula to the point bone was through the skin.

According to ESPN’s John Keim, Smith was only asking about how the team and his backup Colt McCoy were doing. (RELATED: NFL Star QB Destroys His Knee In Gruesome Injury. The Video Will Make You Sick)

You have to be a hell of a good dude to be concerned about your backup as you’re in an ambulance with a bone sticking out of your leg. I would just demand morphine be injected into me immediately. I wouldn’t give a damn about what the score was or whether McCoy was getting sacked nonstop.

Once you have a bone sticking through your leg, I think it’s fair to say you can stop caring about the outcome of the game.

Not for Alex Smith. Even in the worst of moments, he’s still concerned about his brothers on the field.

Smith is truly one of the coolest guys in the entire league, and you just hate to see people like him get hurt. Hopefully, he is able to bounce back soon. In the meantime, I have no doubt his teammates will be looking out for him.
