Pete Davidson’s boss is stepping in to help alleviate his mental health concerns.

The “Saturday Night Live” star, who just went through a very public breakup with Ariana Grande and shocked his fans by threatening suicide this weekend, is reportedly now taking a break from work to focus on his personal life. According to a new report by Page Six, SNL creator Lorne Michaels insisted that Davidson skip Saturday’s live show after his disturbing Instagram post went public.

“The decision was taken to give Pete a break on Saturday night – his sketches were dropped before the early evening rehearsals,” a source with knowledge of the situation told Page Six. “Lorne has pledged to help all he can, including sending Pete to get help. Everyone on the cast is hugely protective of him and were obviously upset — particularly Colin Jost and Michael Che on ‘Weekend Update.'”

Davidson has been open about his struggle with mental health issues and addiction through much of his adult years. Davidson did a stint in rehab back in 2016, but he struggles with borderline personality disorder, as well as Chrohn’s disease.

“I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore,” the SNL star, 25, wrote on Saturday. “I’m doing my best to stay here for you, but I actually don’t know how much longer I can last. All I’ve ever tried to do was help people. Just remember I told you so.”

It’s not clear how long Davidson will be absent from this season of SNL, which premiered on Sep. 29, 2018. Some are speculating that he could be back as soon as the show comes back on in the new year — if all goes well.
