Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Alex Hornibrook won’t be starting in the Pinstripe Bowl against Miami.
According to Jesse Temple, Hornibrook has been dealing with “reoccurring” issues that will keep him out of the starting lineup for the December 27 game. The junior quarterback has struggled with concussion issues throughout the year.

Chryst says Hornibrook visited a specialist in Michigan and that he doesn’t know yet about what the long-term status is for him. Too early to know.

There are two main points I need to make here.
First, this season simply couldn’t have gone any worse. We’re sitting at 7–5, we’re playing in a bowl game that is an embarrassment to our program, and our starting quarterback can’t get his head healed properly.
There is no situation I can envision that would be worse than the one we’re currently in. It’s a crisis of epic proportions, and there is no fix or end in sight.

Second, there is now a very real chance Hornibrook’s days as Wisconsin’s quarterback are over. Even if he gets healthy, I’m simply not sure he’s going to get his starting job back.
His task of getting back to number one on the depth chart is only made harder by the fact superstar QB recruit Graham Mertz is on his way. If Hornibrook graduates, he could go find another team pretty easily.
There’s also the possibility that he decides to hang it all up in order to protect his head from further injuries. Either way, I am extremely skeptical he’ll be the quarterback under center come week one of 2019.

I hope Hornibrook is able to get healthy again and continue playing football. I’m just not sure it’s going to be at Wisconsin. That’s not something I ever thought I’d say six months ago.
