Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians had a unique reason for hiring female coaches.

The Bucs recently added two female coaches, Lori Locust and Maral Javadifar, to their coaching staff to work on strength and conditioning the defensive line, respectively. Arians’ wife Chris apparently played a major role in that decision.

According to ProFootballTalk Saturday, Chris Arians told Katherine Fitzgerald of the Arizona Republic that her husband wanted internships for female coaches.

She convinced him to just hire them full-time. “No! Find someone qualified to coach and hire them,” Arians‘ wife reportedly told Fitzgerald.

I was kind of high on Arians, but I’m not sure how successful a coach taking advice from somebody outside the organization is going to be.

This has nothing to do with listening to your wife or women. I know some intellectually lazy people will try to make that claim. (RELATED: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hire Bruce Arians As Head Coach)

It has to do with having an opinion as a head coach, and then changing it based off the thoughts of somebody not even on the payroll.

I’m pretty sure Bill Belichick isn’t taking advice from random people on proper hiring practices. Apparently, that’s not an issue at all for Arians.

Can’t wait to see who they start at quarterback after the man on the street corner weighs in. Best of luck to everybody in Tampa! Sounds like you guys sure are in for a lot of fun.

P.S.: This seems like a great time for Bill Burr’s thoughts on women married to the president.
