Vince Wilfork announced he’s retiring from the NFL on Monday with one of the best retirement videos we’ve ever seen.

The longtime New England Patriots nose tackle chose to announce the news in a sponsored video with Kingsford charcoal, and before you think twice about watching it because it’s an ad, go ahead and press play.

“Well y’all — it’s been a great run, but the time has come,” Wilfork wrote in a tweet announcing his retirement.

“No more cleats. I’m moving on to smoke meats, fellas,” Wilfork said in the video. “Thought it was over, huh? Nah I’ll be back, but not on that field.”

The 35-year-old tackle will be hosting a “farewell tailgate” before the Patriots season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs on September 7 at Gillette Stadium, according to his farewell video.

Wilfork played 11 seasons for the New England Patriots and won two Super Bowls with the team before moving on to spend his last few years in the NFL with the Houston Texans. The 300-plus-pound force recorded 559 tackles, 16 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 3 interceptions in 189 regular-season games and was selected for the Pro Bowl five times.
