You Might Be Dead Inside If These Army Vs. Navy Promos Don’t Get You Hyped

It’s December, which means it’s the best time of the year. Christmas is upon us. Nobody is droning on about their stupid New Year’s resolution, yet.

And the annual Army-Navy game is going to be played for the 118th time in history.

Army-Navy is huge. As the kid of a Midshipman, I was raised to live, breathe, and die by Army-Navy. It’s up there with the Super Bowl, because it represents a clean competition between the finest people America has to offer. It’s about athleticism, brute strength, and a little bit each team wanting to rip each other’s esophagus out. What could be more American?

The matchup tomorrow is pretty even. Navy leads Army with more wins historically.

One of the best parts of Army-Navy is the promo. It’s two of the best things this world has to offer, combined: football and unapologetic American patriotism. I highly recommend going to a game in person because it’s hard to beat the adrenaline rush from watching a bunch of guys parachute into a stadium and fire cannons after each touchdown.

If you can’t make it to tomorrow’s game, here’s some promo content to get you just almost as hyped.

Naturally, Navy’s uniforms are awesome. They honor the elite Blue Angel flight squad.

Army is keeping it a little more muted in the color category, honoring the WWII Mountain Fighters who fought through the bitter European winters and suffered thousands of casualties.

But what really makes this game great are the spirit videos that each academy releases. They’re played before and during games, and give soldiers and sailors a rare opportunity to show off their tremendous acting skills.

And when all else fails, who doesn’t get hyped from lighting things on fire?

And you can’t forget one of the better ones from 2012, which got close to 7 million hits on YouTube.

It doesn’t matter who you’re rooting for. Every player on these teams is a national treasure. It’s the only game you’ll ever watch that every athlete is willing to die for every fan.

(Go Navy)
