More developments are bubbling forth in the Conor McGregor case, but it’s still unclear how kindly an American judge will take to the Irish UFC fighter’s case.

As we reported last week, McGregor got into a heap of trouble after he chased down a bus full of UFC fighters and threw a heavy metal dolly through the window. McGregor turned himself in on Friday morning and was subsequently charged with three counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of criminal mischief. He spent the night in jail but was shortly released on $50,000 bail. He also paid $8,000 in damages.

But in a brand new update on the unfolding case, TMZ is reporting Tuesday that there’s a good chance McGregor will get a plea deal. They say he might get an offer to plead guilty to felony criminal mischief. From there, McGregor can either accept the deal or go to trial. If he does plead guilty or no contest, he might be ordered to return to court in a year but the charge could get knocked down to a misdemeanor.

But he’s not totally out of the woods yet. Conor may still face deportation back to Ireland, which isn’t exactly an enviable option. He reportedly has around a $900,000 bounty on his head after he allegedly punched an Irish mobster in the face earlier this year.

So while he may escape justice in New York, things may get a little sketchier if he actually leaves the U.S.
