This ‘Westworld’ Theory Will Absolutely Shock You
A new “Westworld” theory is sweeping across Reddit, and it’s pretty dope.
WARNING: THERE ARE EXTREME SPOILERS BELOW. DO NOT KEEP READING IF YOU ARE NOT CAUGHT UP OR ARE TRYING TO COMPLETELY AVOID SEASON TWO SPOILERS. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED.
The new theory refers to the “weapon” Dolores references in the second episode of season two, and Reddit user med284 posted the following:
The weapon Dolores referred to is a dam, which we see under construction when she visits with Young William.
The narratives for the dangerous hosts are all based around a journey somewhere. This is part of an overall failsafe whereby, should the humans from the park no longer be there to control what’s going on and reset the hosts, be that due to a major accident, invasion by the Chinese military, infectious disease wiping them out etc. etc., the hosts narratives will eventually all play out with them congregating in the valley we’ve seen and heard mention of, which is designed to be flooded by use of the dam (the weapon) and kill them all.
It’s a failsafe that runs automatically if and when humans are no longer in control
I like this theory a lot. I have no idea if it’s real or even plausible, but I like the idea Ford had a massive dam built to flood the whole place if it comes to it.
It might also tie in the fact the Man in Black’s game in season two is to simply get the hell out of the park alive. Seems like maybe he floods the park even if he is going to win. Our guy med284 didn’t stop just there. In the same Reddit thread he also floated:
Don’t forget… the hosts have a Good Samaritan program that forces them to protect the guests against any danger, which would include ‘malfunctioning’ hosts like those that have now become self-aware, hence why Dolores is killing all the hosts she can’t control; they would kill her if she tried to harm a guest.
Dolores HAS to mass-murder any hosts that are unable to become self-aware.
I don’t know if you guys are big on Reddit theories, but I’m big on both of these. The thread has dominated the “Westworld” subreddit.
If either of these turn out to be true, then we’re in for one hell of a fun ride. I can’t wait to watch a little host on host action between Dolores and those who won’t submit to her will. She’ll be fighting a war on two fronts. She’ll be against the humans and against the hosts. If history has taught us anything, winning a war on two fronts isn’t easy.
Stay tuned throughout season two to find out what happens.
