Fox Considers Reviving ‘Last Man Standing’ After Conservative Backlash

ABC may be about to learn that conservatives watch TV, too.

While the network famously canceled Tim Allen’s “Last Man Standing” last year, despite its six season success and remarkably high ratings, it looks like another network may be eyeing a reboot. (RELATED: CONSERVATIVE ABC VIEWERS POINT OUT LIBERAL BIAS AFTER ‘ROSEANNE’ GETS A REBOOT)

“The sixth — and final — season of the show, which skews more toward a blue-collar audience, was the network’s second most-watched comedy with 8.1 million views, behind only the seemingly untouchable ‘Modern Family,’ which scored 8.7 million in the same year,” Fox News reported shortly after its cancellation.

Even Tim Allen, who has been an outspoken Republican, was “blindsided” bY the abrupt cancellation.

So last winter, nearly half a million viewers got together to sign a petition to bring “Last Man Standing” back.

Although ABC didn’t take the bait, its rival network Fox may be toying with the idea of scooping up the show and bringing it back for a seventh season.

The Hollywood Reporter claims Tim Allen may have already signed a deal with the network.

“Allen, sources say, has signed on and has been — with producers 20th Century Fox Television — the driving force of the revival,” The Hollywood Reporter says. “Discussions are also underway with producers and stars from the former ABC comedy to return.”

On Thursday, Tim Allen tweeted a not-so-cryptic message about “Last Man Standing.”

“They heard all your voices people!!” he tweeted Thursday afternoon. “LMS just might be a reality. Keep it up. Who wants more #LastManStanding?”

The Hollywood Reporter stresses that talks are reportedly still in the early stage and Fox has not issued a comment on the potential reboot.

ABC has experienced a spike in viewership after relaunching the much-loved sitcom “Roseanne,” this spring. Many have speculated that its monstrous ratings have something to do the fact that its protagonist is an open Trump supporter. If this is the case, it looks like ABC really missed the boat on another right-leaning sitcom.
