Man Dives Into Crocodile-Infested Waters For A Date. It Goes Horribly Wrong [VIDEO]

An Australian man who dove into crocodile-infested waters almost lost his life, or at the very least his left arm, for a chance to date a tourist.

Lee De Paauw, 18, apparently took interest in a British backpacker named Sophie Paterson when he decided to try and woo her by jumping into a lake full of alligators. It happened after they’d both had several adult beverages and De Paauw somehow managed to convince her that “backpackers are more likely to get eaten by a crocodile than Australians.”

So he jumped into the water to prove his theory and was almost immediately eaten.

One croc bit his arm and dragged him underwater.

“I was thinking, s***, I’m gone,” De Paauw said of the incident. “I’m gone for sure.”

But since he’s apparently Australia’s bravest man, De Paauw says he fought through the pain and actually managed to fight this thing off.

“I punched it in the snout and on my second hit I got it straight in the eye and then it let go,” he said.

It let him go, he was rushed to the hospital and had to spend a considerable amount of time there, but he did eventually get the girl.

“You’ve seen ‘Jaws,'” Sophie Paterson said of the aftermath. “It was kind of like that. There was a lot of blood, a lot of bone, it was pretty horrendous.” But she didn’t say it wasn’t awesome. They eventually went on a movie date and everyone had a little laugh about it.

This has to be one of the more awesome stories out of Australia recently. If a guy did this to try and impress me, I would be sold. Immediately. He clearly has superior genes for bravery, and what he lacks in brains he makes up for in chivalry. If this girl doesn’t marry this guy, she’s making a grave mistake.
