World-Famous Designer Makes Bizarre Tribute To Kate Spade
World famous shoe and bag designer Kenneth Cole issued a very confusing tribute to the now-deceased fashion visionary Kate Spade on Tuesday.
After learning about Kate Spade’s apparent suicide, Cole fired off a less than sensitive tweet that left many people scratching their heads. (RELATED: REPORT: Kate Spade’s Marriage Problems May Have Led To Suicide)
“‘I believed that I could, so I did.’ She alone didn’t change the handbag world but she was an inspiring accessory. #KateSpade #RIP,” he wrote. The tweet has since been deleted.
And probably for good reason. After tweeting out his bizarre statement, Cole received massive backlash for his tone deaf response to the situation.

Did…you really just call her an accessory?

I am stunned. Seriously? I wish I could say I’ll never wear your line again, but I NEVER bought that crap in the first place. Kate Spade changed EVERYTHING.

Cole later apologized for his tweet and reissued a statement on his colleague’s death.
Kate Spade left an indelible mark on the fashion industry and her inspiring life and work will be missed. We lost a true visionary today. My heart goes out to her family and to all she has touched.

He followed up the tweet with an emailed statement to the Daily Mail.
“I often say ‘we may not heel the world, but we hope to be an accessory,'” he said, playing on the word ‘heal.’
