T.J. Oshie gave some extremely heartfelt comments about his father after winning the Stanley Cup Thursday night.

Oshie’s dad, Tim, was diagnosed with Alzheimers a few ago, and that was clearly on the forefront of the Capitals star’s mind following the big win. (RELATED: WASHINGTON CAPITALS WIN THE STANLEY CUP [VIDEO])

“My dad, he doesn’t remember a lot of stuff these days. He remembers enough. But I tell you what, he’s here tonight. I don’t know where he’s at, but this one will stick with him forever. You can guarantee that,” Oshie said after pulling off the game five victory for the Stanley Cup.

It doesn’t get much more heartbreaking than those comments. I’m over here searching for a box of tissues. There really are no words to describe the relationship between a father and son, especially when there intense medical issues at play.

It also reminds everybody these athletes are not superhuman. They all have stuff going on behind the scenes that most of us don’t know about.

Oshie, just like every other hockey player, has played his whole life with the hope of winning the Stanley Cup. Then he finally pulls it off with his dad in the stands. I don’t know what’s wrong with you if that doesn’t bring some tears to your eyes.

God bless hockey players, T.J. Oshie and his whole family. What an incredible night for them to share together.
