These Athletes Lead Major College Sports Teams In Binge Drinking
Hockey players are the biggest drinkers among major revenue generating college sports teams, according to a recent study from the NCAA.
Lacrosse actually has a higher percentage of binge drinkers, but widely isn’t a college sport that makes much money, if any at all. Football, men’s basketball and men’s hockey is where the money’s at, and puck players lead the way with 64 percent of them being binge drinkers. (SLIDESHOW: HOCKEY RINK

This doesn’t surprise anybody who knows college or pro hockey players. Hockey players take their sport extremely serious, but they also take partying extremely serious. All the hardest partiers I knew in college were hockey players. Every single one of them. The top five list of partiers would all be hockey guys for me, an there’s not a basketball or football player. (SLIDESHOW: These Nearly Naked Women Love Baseball)
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’ve known plenty of football and basketball players who could throw cold ones back without a problem — but we’re just talking about a different kind of beast. Hockey guys live in cold areas, love hot women and that’s the perfect recipe for alcohol-infused house parties. I’ve never once drank a few beers with hockey guys and walked away disappointed. It has never once happened. I know it’s crazy to think about, but it’s true. Hockey players just do it better.
Also, shoutout to all the other sports on this list that suck money right out of the coffers of the sports that prop up schools. Trust me, those of us who have been in division one basketball programs aren’t bitter at all about having to use our money to fund sports nobody goes to. Honestly, I’m shocked that hasn’t driven more people to drink.
