Wife Of Former NFL Quarterback Believes He Might Kill Her
Former NFL player Erik Kramer is some serious trouble, and his wife Cortney Baird is fearful for her life.
Kramer, who played for multiple teams throughout his career, was recently arrested on suspicion of felony corporal injury after police responded to a 911 call at his home in Agoura Hills, California. He was eventually released on $50,000 bond. Well, the situation is only getting worse because now his wife has been granted a restraining order after claiming she fears for her life.
Kramer was booked at a nearby station, but released the next day — and Cortney says she’s in fear for her life and worried Erik could also come after her daughter.
In fact, Cortney points to Erik’s 2015 failed suicide attempt — when he survived a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Cortney says the incident proves Erik has access to guns and isn’t afraid to pull the trigger.
“I am terrified that he is out looking for me at this very moment and will kill me and my daughter.”
Cortney’s request for a restraining order was granted — Erik must stay 100 yards away at all times and has been ordered to move out of the family home.
As I’ve said before, the NFL has a serious problem with its image when it comes to domestic violence and allegations of abuse against women. Now, Kramer obviously isn’t a current NFL player, and hasn’t touched a field since the 1999 season with the San Diego Chargers. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s still a bad look for the league. Add in the fact his ex-wife, Marshawn Kramer, has claimed he has suffered mental health problems since being in the league, and the NFL has a PR disaster on its hands. Stuff like this is just tragic. If football really did contribute to his current mental state, it really makes you think how many other former players might have problems we don’t even know about.
Hopefully, the authorities sort out this whole situation, and Kramer gets any mental help he might need. This is just a sad situation all the way around.
