Matt Lauer Makes Rare Public Appearance In the Hamptons
Matt Lauer made a rare public appearance in the Hamptons this weekend.
The disgraced former NBC anchor reportedly showed up at the Paddle For Pink breast cancer research fundraiser in Sag Harbor, despite not being on the guest list. (RELATED: REPORT: Matt Lauer Is ‘Furious’ He Has To Pay His Soon-To-Be Ex-Wife $25 Million)
“Matt wasn’t signed up but came with a friend and took part in the three-mile paddleboard race,” a person with knowledge of the event told Page Six. “He remained pretty incognito, but his car had a for-sale sign.” (RELATED: NBC Anchor Reveals She Still Keeps In Touch With Matt Lauer)
It’s unclear why exactly his car had a for-sale sign on it but it may have something to do with the fact that he was recently ordered to pay his soon to be ex-wife $25 million and has been trying to offload a pricey Manhattan apartment for months.
Still, Lauer has been holding out hope that a media comeback is possible. He told Radio New Zealand back in July that he was an “easy mark” for the #MeToo movement but is reportedly eagerly eyeing a return to the public eye.
