One NFL Star Shows Off How Frugal He Is. Lots Of Athletes Should Follow His Lead
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara recently revealed in an interview with GQ that he is a pretty frugal guy.
It’s still $30. It don’t make sense. I’m not about to pay you $30 to take me four or five lights down the street. Like, it’s not happening. And then they be trying to finesse on game day. They like, “It’s $30 plus six dollars a person.” And I’m like, “All right, f**k you. I’m about to go. That’s cool.” And I just keep walking.
I couldn’t agree more with Kamara here. Regardless of how much money you make, nobody enjoys paying a ton for taxis. Even Kamara, who is on a contract worth nearly $4 million. (RELATED: NEW ORLEANS SAINTS STAR HILARIOUSLY TWEETS OUT HIS NFL FINE FROM CHRISTMAS EVE)
Let’s all be honest here. It’s no secret that some athletes really struggle with their finances. They don’t seem to understand how quickly some expenses can add up, or how small expenses quickly roll into big ones.
If I were a pro athlete, I’d take 10 percent of my yearly earnings after taxes for living expenses and fun money, and I’d put the rest away into some investments for the future. I would budget the hell out of my money because your career can end in a moment.
A lot of pro athletes just don’t seem to grasp this concept at all. Props to Kamara for understanding the reality of the situation and not throwing money away.
