NBA Star Arrested In New York. Here’s What We Know

Brooklyn Nets forward Kenneth Faried was arrested Sunday for allegedly possessing marijuana.

TMZ reported the following Tuesday morning:

Brooklyn Nets star Kenneth Faried was arrested and charged for possessing more than two ounces of weed on Sunday … and TMZ Sports has the mug shot.

The 28-year-old was arrested on the Montauk Highway in Bridgehamption, New York at 1:30 a.m. … after the vehicle he was riding in was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint.

Faried was booked for 4th degree unlawful possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

Why? Why do athletes put themselves into these situations? It’s beyond belief to me. Faried is currently on a deal worth $50 million. What is he doing by putting himself at risk of being jailed for a year? Unbelievable. (RELATED: NBA STAR STERLING BROWN IS SUING THE CITY OF MILWAUKEE)

If I were a pro athlete, I wouldn’t dabble in anything that could put me behind bars. Save that for after you’re retired and the time to cash in has already come and gone.

The window to make money as a pro athlete is incredibly small, and it could be over in a matter of moments. So, what does that mean? It means you don’t behave like an idiot and get yourself arrested.

I hope Faried gets his life figured out. Is weed the worst thing to ever get arrested for? Of course not, but it’s still not great. There’s no excuse for making a mistake like this.
