The Return Of Wisconsin Badgers Football Was Glorious. The March To A National Title Has Begun

David Hookstead | Reporter

Ladies and gentlemen, the Wisconsin Badgers got off to a very smooth start in our journey for a national title with a win over Western Kentucky Friday night.

As I’ve been previewing all summer, I made my way to Camp Randall for the season opener against Western Kentucky, and it didn’t disappoint one bit. Naturally, you can’t have a college football game without great pregame festivities. We were grilling, drinking, shooting guns, throwing the football around, hitting up the bar scene and all talking about how high our expectations for the season were.

By the time we all got into the stadium the consensus seemed to be that we were going to win by a billion. Maybe it was the alcohol talking. Maybe it was the fact we all know our offensive line and running game is borderline pornographic. (RELATED: THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL WORLD SHOULD FEAR WISCONSIN FOR ONE SIMPLE REASON)

Once kickoff happened, Camp Randall erupted and never slowed down. Let me tell you, my Badgers looked outstanding. Jonathan Taylor was out there shredding fools like it was a damn video game.

The only question I have now is who is more likely to win the Heisman between Taylor and Alex Hornibrook, because our quarterback looked awesome last night. He was slinging the rock like a young Brett Favre.

By the time it was all said and done, the Badgers had sealed it up 34-3. Were there areas to work on? Absolutely. I didn’t exactly love how we played the Hilltoppers dual-threat offense at one point. You can’t let a quarterback pick up six or seven yards a carry if you want to be a national title team.

Overall, I was very impressed with how it unfolded. It’s going to make a great opening chapter in our “30 for 30” about how we won the title.
