Film director Luciano Silighini Garagnani just wore what may be 2018’s most controversial red carpet look to date.

The Italian native wore a plain black t-shirt with the statement, “Weinstein Is Innocent,” to the premiere of Amazon’s new thriller “Suspiria” at the Venice Film Festival this weekend, Page Six reports.

The event was strictly formal and requested all attendees ascribe to black tie attire.

Alberto Barbara, the chief of Venice Film Festival, condemned the shirt, telling Deadline that his decision was “a stupid move.”

Harvey Weinstein may have previously reigned supreme at film festivals but could see jail time in the near future instead. The now-disgraced film producer has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury for allegedly raping three women. He’s also being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and police in London for allegedly sexually assaulting multiple women. (RELATED: REPORT: HARVEY WEINSTEIN’S RAPE ACCUSER CARRIED ON A SEVERAL-YEAR EMAIL RELATIONSHIP, SAID ‘I LOVE YOU’)

Despite growing online backlash, Luciano Silighini Garagnani has not commented on his decision to wear the shirt.
