BREAKING: Pittsburgh Steelers Superstar To Miss Week 1. Here’s Why

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell is expected to sit out during his Week 1 game against the Browns Sunday.

ESPN reported the following:

The Pittsburgh Steelers running back is not expected to play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, barring an unforeseen development, according to a source, and agent Adisa Bakari hinted that Bell might be willing to wait it out longer.

Bell hasn’t signed his $14.5 million franchise tag and can become a free agent in 2019 as long as he signs it by Week 11. The team hoped he would show up for work this week, but he’s staying away.

This comes just hours after Le’Veon reportedly neglected to show up to a team meeting Wednesday.

And while Le’Veon’s decision to sit out Sunday was relatively expected, his agent Adisa Bakari told Sirius XM NFL Radio that Bell is doing what he can to preserve his play in the meantime.

But this doesn’t make the situation any more desirable for Steelers fans.

The star running back has been in a sort of a game of chicken with the Steelers over the past few weeks. He’s only locked in for a one-year contract but has reservations about being used for all he’s worth before his contract is up.

Bell’s current contract is set up so he could lose up to $855,000 per missed game, and such losses are looking more and more likely. And as Le’Veon’s pay goes down, so could the Steelers’ standings. We’ll find out Monday.
