Vanilla Ice was one of the passengers quarantined on the Emirates plane that landed with over a hundred sick passengers in JFK on Wednesday.

Vanilla Ice — real name Robert Matthew Van Winkle — was reportedly aboard the jet bound from Dubai to JFK (New York) when many passengers fell ill with flu-like symptoms, including coughing and high fevers. 521 passengers were on board.

“So I just landed from Dubai and now there is like tons of ambulances and fire trucks and police all over the place,” he tweeted out to his nearly 345,000 followers.

Flight 203 touched down at 9:18 a.m. local time but was redirected to a retention area for quarantine. Ten people (seven crew members and three passengers) were taken to Jamaica Hospital for treatment. Some 90 others exhibited similar flu-like symptoms. Passengers were seen exiting the plane with masks and other protective medical garb.

“All the passengers are off and have been evaluated. 19 sick. 10 to hospital and 9 refused medical attention. Health officials are processing tests now to determine the cause. Symptoms still pointing to the flu,” NYC Mayor Press Secretary Eric Phillips tweeted out just after noon.

Sources say it was almost immediately clear that dozens of passengers were sick as soon as the flight took off.

“It was obvious and audible that people were really sick,” fitness and health guri Erin Sykes told the New York Post. “What I heard was mostly coughing, very violent, violent, deep coughs, phlegm. Just gross.”

Vanilla Ice does not appear to be sick as of now.
