The Super Bowl Halftime Performer Has Been Announced. Fans Will Hate It

The headliners for the Super Bowl LIII halftime show have been announced, and I can’t say I’m terribly enthused.

According to Variety, Maroon 5 will give the halftime performance in February 2019. The group is best known for hits like “She Will Be Loved,” “This Love,” “Sugar,” and most recently, “Girls Like You,” featuring popular female rapper Cardi B.

Maroon 5 has won three Grammy Awards and was nominated for dozens of other awards, including iHeart Radio awards, MTV Video Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards, and Teen Choice Awards. They’ve also won 16 out of their 32 total nominated Billboard Music Awards.

And while Maroon 5 has enjoyed virtual market dominance over the past few decades, not everybody’s happy about this decision.

I’ve gotta say, I’m not too pumped about Maroon 5 either. But I’d be a lot more torn up about the decision if I wasn’t so focused on the game.

One thing we already know about Super Bowl LIII: the Eagles are going to be there. And I’m not going to be concerned about some lame concert breaking up the middle of the game. I’m going to be focused, refilling my wine glass, reviewing the plays, and giving my fellow Eagles fans a pep talk.

So Maroon 5 can go ahead and try to ruin the Super Bowl, but the joke’s on them. Nobody cares. All I want to see is a sea of midnight green.
