LeBron James Responds To Donald Trump Calling Him Dumb. What He Said Might Surprise You

NBA star LeBron James responded to criticism from President Donald Trump, and his comments might not be what you’d expect.

Trump tweeted back in August about how Don Lemon, whom he referred to as the dumbest man on television, made the three-time NBA champion look smart.

Apparently, it really didn’t get under James’ skin at all. The Los Angeles Lakers star told The Hollywood Reporter:

No, because I’m not. That’s like somebody saying I can’t play ball. That doesn’t bother me at all. What bothers me is that he has time to even do that. He has the most powerful job in the world. Like, you really got this much time that you can comment on me?

I don’t care how you feel about Trump or James, but this is a really solid response from the latter. He’s not taking the bait and he’s not escalating the situation. I think he’s asking a valid question about why the President of the United States has the free time to tweet about the intelligence levels of basketball players.

It’s understandable why some people don’t like James. He’s vocal, he’s endorsed political candidates before and he’s a winner in life. That can sometimes rub people the wrong way.

Having said all that, I just don’t understand why anybody would be interested in picking a fight with LeBron James. He is arguably the greatest sports role model this country has ever seen. He’s a hell of athlete, business genius and a wonderful example of a great father.

Yes, he’s criticized Trump in the past, but that hardly seems like a reason to get into a massive feud. If anything, you’d think the president would want James on his side. (RELATED: LeBron James Says Trump Doesn’t Give A ‘F**k’ About People)

This feud doesn’t make any sense to me, and it looks like James is now intent on not engaging. We’ll see how it works out for him.
