SEC Week 5 Preview: Dan Mullen Goes Home
It’s hard to believe that we’re already a third of the way through the 2018 college football regular season.
At this point, most teams still have a shot to accomplish their goals, but it’s starting to become clear which teams truly belong in the discussion for the sport’s biggest prize. One thing that should be crystal clear to anybody who has been paying attention is that the SEC is the best conference in the country.
So, without further ado, here are the best games you can expect from the best conference in Week 5.
Georgia v. Tennessee: One of the SEC’s greatest rivalries captures two programs going in opposite directions. Kirby Smart has Georgia in contention to get back to another national championship in his third year while Jeremy Pruitt is heading a complete rebuild in year one in Knoxville, and a tough rebuild it will be.
Prediction: Georgia 38 Tennessee 3

Florida v. Mississippi State: Who says you can’t go home again? In just his fifth game at his new job as Florida head coach, Dan Mullen will return home to face the football program he built. Mississippi State is reeling coming off that massive egg they laid against Kentucky, but seeing their old coach should be enough to fend off a letdown.
Prediction: Mississippi State 24 Florida 13
South Carolina v. Kentucky: Are the Wildcats for real? That’s one of the major questions in the league right now, and we’ll find out for sure on Saturday night as Kentucky hosts an underrated South Carolina team. Most people discarded the Gamecocks after their home-loss to Georgia during week two, but there is still talent on that roster. Kentucky’s ability to handle success will be tested, but this time they will pass that test. Barely.
Prediction: Kentucky 28 South Carolina 24
