A Tennessee man was rushed to the hospital this week after he was reportedly stabbed by a real knife at a fake haunted house.

James “Jay” Yochim, 29, and a group of friends were at the Nashville Nightmare in Madison, Tennessee, on Friday night looking for a good spook. In one of the rooms, an individual who they believed was a part of the production team approached them. After some joking around, the man offered Yochim’s friend a knife. “Keep in mind, we’d been chased by chainsaws, holding other weapons, all kinds of stuff all night, and it was all fake,” Yochim explained to the Tennessean. “So she stabs at me with it, and everything got really black.”

That’s when he realized the joke turned out to be something very, very serious. (RELATED: Corey Feldman Says He Was Stabbed For Speaking Out Against Pedophiles)

“The thing I remember,” he continued, “is the guy who gave it to her kind of freaking out and saying things like, ‘Oh, I didn’t know my knife was that sharp. I didn’t know. I’m so sorry.'”

From there, things went pretty dark for Yochim but he does recall his friend who stabbed him “bawling,” as cast members tried to keep him awake.

“No one wants to stab their friend,” Yochim said. “I’ve been stabbed and I still can’t even imagine what it’s like to accidentally hurt your friend like that.”

Luckily, doctors determined his stab wound was not life-threatening and no major arteries were hit. He was given nine stitches and the purported cast member with the knife was placed on leave.

No arrests were made and no charges have been filed, and the police have not contacted the haunted house. (RELATED: Get A Load Of This Chinese PSA On How To Avoid A Knife Attack [VIDEO]

This just goes to show you that there’s a sharp line between a good scare and a serious one.

This one definitely seemed to make the cut.
