HBO went to extreme lengths to protect the final season of “Game of Thrones.”
Everybody knows that spoilers have plagued the show for a very long time. Why wouldn’t they? It’s one of the most popular shows ever made, and people are going to be interested in spoilers. That’s just life. That’s probably why HBO wasn’t playing games at all, according to star Sophie Turner.
Entertainment Weekly reported the following from it’s interview with Turner:
Great pains were taken to keep the final season a secret, Turner admits. Besides shooting “fake” scenes and renaming the show “The Tree of Life” to dupe the paparazzi, she said the production had a special device that could literally shoot down marauding drones. “If a drone flies above sets, there’s a thing that can kill the drones, which is really cool. It creates a field around it and the drones just drop. It’s very X-Men.”
I need to get my hands on one of these drone killers immediately. In my mind, I’d like to imagine it’s like a surface to air missile. Something is picked up on radar, the launching system tracks it and then fires a missile. Unfortunately, I don’t think “GoT” was firing missiles all over the set. A true shame. As for the fake scenes, I’m not surprised at all. You had to imagine something like that would be done to stop the cast, producers, extras, and people on set from spreading information. I just can’t wait for the final season to get here, which is happening at some undefined point in 2019. Seriously, it can’t get here soon enough. I need to know what happens like I need air in my lungs. Let’s get it!
