Infamous NFL draft bust Ryan Leaf sees a bit of himself in Johnny Manziel.
“I’ve talked to him quite a bit. I usually just tell him I’m here to support him. He knows he has a resource if he ever needs one,” Leaf told Kristine Leahy during a recent appearance on her FS1 show, “Fair Game.”
When asked if he saw similarities, the former Chargers draft pick added, “Yeah, some of the stuff I’ve seen happen in the last few years. Yeah, definitely … It’s like looking in a mirror sometimes.”

For those of you who might not remember, both Leaf and Manziel were out of the league after only a couple short seasons, despite both being high profile draft picks.
There is a major difference, however, between the two of them at this point in time. Manziel got clean and returned to football. He played the entire CFL season this past year and had some solid moments for the Montreal Alouettes. Leaf never returned to pro football. More than anything, Johnny just has to keep doing what he’s been doing. Get your reps, stay sober, and prove you can be a professional every day of the week.
If he does that and keeps winning games north of the border, then he will get the shot he so desperately desires in the NFL. It’s really that simple.
Go, Johnny, go!
