Cardinals Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury and General Manager Steve Keim might not be on the same page when it comes to Kyler Murray starting week one.
When Rich Eisen asked Keim if the first overall pick in the 2019 draft would start, he replied with, “Yes … we didn’t draft him number one overall to ride the pine.” (RELATED: Arizona Cardinals Select Kyler Murray First Overall In The NFL Draft)

Kingsbury had a bit of a different answer when Jim Rome asked him the same question. “We’ll see. We’re still working through all those things. Um, we have Brett Hundley here, who we’re very excited about. We’ll see where that kind of goes.”
Not a great look for a franchise who just took a guy first overall and the GM and coach aren’t on the same page. Not a good look at all.
The Cardinals are excited about Hundley? Is that a joke from Kingsbury? He sucks. My friends and loyal readers, smash the panic button if you’re a fan of the Cardinals and Hundley is under center week one.
If Murray can’t beat out the former Packers and Seahawks backup week one, then that’s a really bad sign.

Let’s really not pretend like Murray shouldn’t start right away. He was the first pick, the entire offense is going to be geared around him and it’s time for him to show up and show out for the Cardinals.
There’s just no other way around it. As Keim said, Arizona didn’t pick him first overall to ride the pine, and he damn well better be able to beat out Brett Hundley.

It’s time to find out what Murray is all about and we’ll get that started week one against my Lions. At the very least, I like my chances against a rookie quarterback in week one.
