Former Oregon football star Keanon Lowe stopped a potential school massacre Friday.

According to Oregon Live Friday, an alleged gunman entered Parkrose High School in Portland, Oregon carrying a shotgun. Lowe, who now serves as a track coach and security guard, tackled the alleged gunman to the ground before any damage could be done.

My friends, if there’s ever a guy who deserved to be called a hero, it’s Keanon Lowe. Most people freeze when presented with a serious situation like a gunman.

The average person isn’t conditioned to react quickly in the face of violence. It’s not like there are Delta Force operators just walking around left and right.

However, Lowe, who scored 11 touchdowns during his days with the Ducks, is cut from a rare piece of cloth because it sounds like he didn’t even hesitate to take out a guy allegedly wielding a shotgun.

The man stopped a potential massacre from being unleashed Friday, and I have no doubt the entire community is insanely grateful for his quick thinking and actions.

I can promise you most people wouldn’t have so willingly put themselves in the way of potential death and gunfire.

There aren’t a ton of people out there who deserve to be called a hero. The former college football star absolutely deserves the title and recognition.

The people of Portland, Oregon should make sure he never has to pay for a beer again.
