The Indianapolis Colts are giving Chad Kelly another shot at the NFL.

The team announced Monday they’d signed him to a deal. Financial details aren’t known at this time. The former Ole Miss star hasn’t played a snap of professional football after his bizarre arrest on a trespassing charge. He was promptly cut by the Broncos.

Well, this shouldn’t come as a massive surprise. They worked him out a couple weeks back, didn’t sign him right away and then made the call to bring him into the fold.

Everybody who follows football knows Chad Kelly has enough talent to play in the league. There’s no question about that, but he’s had some off-the-field issues, such as his arrest when he was playing for the Broncos. (RELATED: Indianapolis Colts Don’t Sign Chad Kelly After Tryout)

If he can stay focused on the path in front of him, he’ll likely have a great shot at sticking around in the league for a bit.

Kelly was an absolute beast during his days playing for the Rebels, and he tore up SEC defenses with his dual-threat skill set.

Again, his talent has never been the issue. His decision-making and attitude have left a lot to be desired at times.

I really hope Kelly is able to stick around. He’s a fun dude to watch, and he’d be curious to see what he could do now that he’s kind of reset his career.

He’ll have zero pressure to play with the Colts because he’s most certainly not taking Andrew Luck’s job, but he could compete for the backup role.

We’ll have to wait and see what he does with the Colts. I think he’s got a great shot at hanging around through the season.
